I was born in Reno, Nevada. I took drawing in high school and college graduating from UNR. I have been sewing since I was 7. I was always experimenting with needle, thread, and fabric. I loved to make garments and purses and scarves. I learn to quilt in my 30’s and fell in love with the amazing cotton fabrics in the high-quality quilt shops. While I love and appreciate quilts and the discipline that goes with staying to a pattern, whether quilting or garment making, I am normally one to change a pattern for my tastes. I still frequent the bolts of Mill End Fabrics for inspiration and texture versatility. My quilting journey lead me to take a landscape quilting class. From there, I was asked to become a member of Reno Open Studios. I have also become a guest artist at the Reno Artists Co-op.
I get my inspiration from nature. I use fabric, thread, acrylic paint, watercolor crayons, and oil pastels to create landscape quilts, animal portraits, flora and fauna. I continue to take classes every year from drawing to quilting techniques. I am a regional juried artist and member of International Studio Art Quilt Associates. This year I will also be a featured artist at the South Valley’s Library. November and December 2019.
