Jessica Schimpf

Artists statement and bio:
Nationally exhibiting glass artist, Jessica Schimpf (b. 1987) graduated with her degree in Sculpture from the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art in 2011. After winning her senior thesis competition for her 5-year plan on opening and running a hot shop, Jessica decided to put her college plan into action by establishing Mantra Glass Art in Denver, Colorado not sure what to expect. After establishing MGA Jessica started gaining significant attention for her work including an interview with PBS Television Road-trip Nation filming her studio that is still continually aired on PBS television across the nation. Mantra Glass Art has also worked with: Ford Motors & The Ford Foundation (45 person classes for Warriors in Pink Event), Colorado State University (Solo exhibition and public lecture on her artwork and installation at CSU open to all departments and the public), University of Denver, Destination Hotels and Resorts and many other significant clients. Jessica has now opened the first ever city permitted public soft-glass shop in downtown Reno, NV in 2018 to bring the art of glass blowing to the state of Nevada which had very little exposure to soft glass arts (different from boroscillicate or stained glass artists). Though many other styles of glass are predominant here in Reno, MGA found it important to bring the traditional craft to this part of the country. Jessica’s intention is to not only hold year-round classes, open studio events for the public but to also allow any visiting artists to rent her hot shop to produce their own artwork.
